7-inch Sonorama (Germany), 1969 -- Condition: New Copy
"Cold Sweat"
"I Got The Feeling"
"Fever"
"Baby I Love You".
A late 60s German band with a Turkish female lead singer -- all in a groove that's pretty darn funky, and which is really an odd sort of take on the bad-sister soul sound of the time! There's a definite James Brown influence going on with the group -- but the sound is also oddly different too -- played in a stripped-down combo mode that has the electric bass very high up in the mix, next to scattershot drums that wail away quickly underneath horns that blast out with a slightly "Eastern" sort of feel.
The record's a strange mix of modes that's a lot more compelling than just simple soul covers of the time -- and it features great covers of James Brown's "Cold Sweat" and "I Got The Feeling" -- plus takes on "Fever" and "Baby I Love You".
