Bugocsiga ¿ Bugocsiga
new LP
(reissue)....
Moiras (Hungary), Early 70s. New Copy Gatefold
Moody music from Transylvania ¿ a collection of recordings from Bugocsiga ¿ a group with a very tripped-out feel!
At some level, their sound borrows a lot from East European folk influence, but they also mix things freely with psyche as well ¿ a bit like some of the hippie groups in France during the same generation ¿ which would be a good comparison for the sound of this set as well!
Instrumentation is mostly acoustic ¿ especially guitar, sometimes with a bit of recorder or violin ¿ and the production quality is usually quite rough and raw, which adds a further sinister sound to songs that might have been sweeter in another setting.
The titles are all in Romanian ¿ so we won't bother writing them out ¿ but we can say that the package comes with a very detailed booklet, and some great notes too!
(Numbered limited edition of just 330 copies ¿ in a beautiful gatefold sleeve!
B¿g¿csiga
Moiras 010 LP - Limited to 330 copies
In the first half of 1970s there was a folk group in the heart of Transylvania, called B¿g¿csiga (Humming Top).
The compositions of its leader, De¿k Endre united the influences of folk rock, urban folk and renessaince music at a very high level.
They made several recordings in the Marosv¿s¿rhely radio. These recordings were aired many times even after the band's breakup, however they remained totally unheard of beyond the radio's broadcasting limits. Just as a pearl lays in its shell all their known recordings are contained by this album.
