NEW CD
An amazing album of funky late 60s electronics -- one we'd rank right up there with the work of Pierre Henry and Michel Colombier! As with their work, the music here starts from more avant garde sources -- particularly the wave in postwar electronic styles and musique concrete -- but it also adds in some hipper, groovier rhythms that are much more in a mod late 60s mode -- very soul-based styles of instrumentation that mix together with the electronics wonderfully!
The core pair behind the record are Antonio and Fernando Lameirinhas -- but they're also getting some help from jazzmen Stu Martin and Scott Bradford -- the former of whom plays some really wonderful drums on the set. There's an almost psychedelic feel to the album -- especially given the length of some of the tunes -- but thanks to a tightly rhythmic core at the bottom the tunes never get too out of hand as the jams roll on. Production is great too -- with plenty of odd effects and echo --
