A classic early 70's funk track cut for Paramount -- never issued on LP! One G Plus Three is an obscure group that's got sort of a Latin funk sound, with a nice jazzy tip. Both sides are instrumentals, with a good bottom groove, and some very very dope guitar. "Summertime" is a low grooving cover of the classic, and "Poquito Soul" has a little bit more of a low riding tip to it. Both cuts are great, and although "Summertime" was on one of the Funky Jams volumes, we've never seen "Poquito Soul" compiled elsewhere.
O.K., pachuco, the gift we have for you here is an exceptional rarity from the vaults of Rampart Records... A great Jazzy-Soul-Latino single with bits of the "Viva Tirado" flavour. One G Plus 3 were formed by Mexican American musicians and only recorded these 2 songs for the Rampart label. This is a delicatessen advance of what will be a very much welcome Vampisoul compilaton: "Pachuko Soul (a History of East La Sound)"... Coming out early 2004!!
