Ennio Morricone  Le Ruffian ... NEW CD

A very unusual soundtrack from Ennio Morricone – scored for an adventure drama starring Lino Ventura as Le Ruffian!
For the music, Morricone is sort of filling the shoes of Francois De Roubaix – who composed previously for the film's director Jose Giovanni, but had passed away before this one – which means that there's some very compelling sounds and styles that are way different than you might expect.
Morricone's using a very Roubaix-like assortment of instruments here – plucked guitar, wooden flutes, harmonica, and light percussion – often in a mode that's a lot more folksy than the usual Morricone mode!
At times, some of the drama of older spaghetti western styles come through – but often, there's a really different pitch going on too – one that makes the record a real standout in the Morricone catalog. CD presents the full score, plus a number of previously unreleased tracks – a whopping 24 titles that includes "Le Ruffian", "Western", "Sporco Ma Distinto", "Amici Come Pochi", "Ricordo Rosa", "L'Oro Come Pericolo", and "Viaggio In 4". (Limited to 500 copies.)
