'60s YUGOSLAVIAN JAZZ

Jack Dieval QUARTET

Jam Session in Studio 1961 -with: Art TAYLOR dr, Jack DIEVAL p, Eduard SADIL ts, Francois JEANNEAU ts,...-RTB lp-406 mono

reissue of the ultra rare 10" jazz lp from exYUGOSLAVIA pressed in 1961

Second in a series of three 10" records originaly released in 1961 on RTB label from Belgrade featuring jam-session recordings between foreign and local musicians.

The second in a sereies of three 10" records that RTB label from Belgrade released in 1960/61.
The label has used oportunity to invite some foreign musicians during their visit to Belgrade to do a recording jam-session with a local jazz musicians and here are the results. On this record we have two Jazz pioneers from Belgrade and Jack Diavel Quartet. Predrag Ivanovic later gained a fame with his vocal quartet and Eduard Sadjil still has been counted as the most soulful and poetical jazz balads sax player in Yugoslavia. Historicly this recording is important for Yugoslavian jazz because that was the first time that some foreign musicians were playing (and recording) some local author's compositions.
The most obscure group in this great 3-volume Meetings In Studio series -- a session that features work by an all-Eastern European jazz ensemble from 1961 -- Borislav Rakovic on piano, Joe Sydow on bass, Hans Hoitz on drums, Milan Stojanivic on tenor and flute, and Vojislav Djonovic on guitar. Tracks are short and tight -- nicely grooving in a laidback way that recalls some of the hipper RCA jazz sessions of the mid 50s.
