A few years ago a bootlegged LP came out on private press (in 100 copies only) and created a “minor event” in the 60s geeks scene. Story tells that a certain Gregg has found the tapes in a “messy garage”, where he had stored “all the material from his once full-time profession of records seller and producer”. But well, as some say, “God only knows” what was the real story behind and when and how the recordings have been made. Due to some interest amongst few original members though, in recent years a one-time-only concert of the Painted Brush has been rumored amongst band mates and aficionados. This was enough for Gregg to go back to his tapes again and discover “new recordings, which existence he had completely forgotten”. Some months ago Yiannis “kaleidosmoker”, Sound Effect Records owner, after listening to this newly found material and amazed by it managed to find two of the founding Painted Brush members and convince them to do this one time off legitimate edition that contains only the band’s compositions (in other words most of the bootleg edition songs plus a whole side of new material).

So today, for the first time after all these years you have the chance to grab the whole Painted Brush story in glorious mono sound in this legitimate brand new 140gr vinyl edition!

Painted Brush, according to the booklet inside, were a Mexican band which, between 1966 and 1969, taped this bunch of songs, only for them to remain unreleased until last year… … a lost '60s diamond.

Truth is, it actually sounds like one. From the mono sound to the tunes and performances, everything is immersed in a '60s feel, and it sounds like this devilishly divine psych-garage aura runs wild in these Italians' veins. That is all from me; just buy it and play it loud! (Remember the Sugar Cube Blues Band record at Rockadelic and their track "My Last Impression"? The tunes here are up to that standard!)”
