The debut album of the Swedish progrock band back on vinyl in limited edition in coloured stuff, 180 gram, in gatefold cover.
The Swedish symphonic rockband Tribute was founded 1982 by the two musicians/composers Gideon Andersson and Josef (formerly Christer) Rhedin.
The band created four albums - ”New Views”, ”Breaking Barriers”, ”Live” and ”Terra Incognita”. ”New Views” was the first album and was the one that gave the group their breakthrough in Germany and Sweden in the middle of the nineteen eighties.
Tribute toured continuously between 1983 and 1986, and established a large following among the symphonic/progressive rock lovers. Tribute's music is mostly instrumental. It is focused on rhythm, intricate riffs and melodies. In the orchestration there is plenty of classical percussion, such as tubular bells, vibraphone, marimba and timpani. There is also a strong impact from the keyboard section mastered by Josef Rhedin. Another significant aspect of Tribute is that all musicians were multi-instrumentalists, which made a significant impression on their audience.
In 1985 Tribute was joined by french progressive rock drummer Pierre Moerlen (Gong, Mike Oldfield, PhilLynott) who played almost 200 concerts with the band. Pierre Moerlen played drums on two albums, Breaking Barriers and Live.
Tribute had great succes and was very well known in Sweden.
One of the peaks of the bands career was the concert in 1987 with Norrköping Symphony Orchestra when Gideon Andersson and Josef Rhedin composed a symphony for rockband and symphony orchestra. The piece was performed on the eve of May 22nd under the baton of Anders Eljas for an audience of 5,000 in Norrköping. The only recorded music from this evening is the two extracted parts ”A Brand New Day” and ”Poem för Vandrare” that appeared as separate songs on Tributes last album ”Terra Incognita” .
