BANDA UNIAO BLACK-'S/T'-Brazil heavy funk-new CD

BANDA UNIÃO BLACK 'S/T'

 (new CD digipack)

Twenty five years later, União Black (currently União Black Band) puts out another album full of new songs with four of  its original members. Recorded in Brazil, their new album revives the characteristic heavy funk sound from their roots under the production of Daniel Collas (whose latest acclaimed project is Joe Bataan¿s ¿Call My Name¿) and Sean Marquand (the other half of the fantastic DJ team, Brazilian Beat Brooklyn). Together they are Embassy Sound Productions, a collective dedicated to introducing the best in psychedelic rock and soul. They both spent an entire month in Sao Paulo saturating themselves with the spirit and sound of the original 1977 album for the new União Black recording.

União Black was one of the main groups from Brazil¿s Black Rio Movement of the late 70s, a real life thirteen musician super band that, in those days, packed clubs and stadiums. Their most recognizable influences were James Brown, Ohio Players and Mandrill seasoned inevitably by Brazilian flavor and Portuguese lyrics. Their original 1977 LP is currently a very sought after album, fetching quite a high price in the collector¿s market.
