Beautiful work from Italian composer Lallo Gori -- fast becoming one of our favorite soundtrack writers of the time! The score for Inginocchiati Straniero is tremendous, and very unique -- with a single trumpet stating the theme on a few tunes, followed by other spare and isolated instruments that slowly creep into the soundspace -- moving almost of their own accord, and acting out a musical drama as the soundtrack unfolds. There's an incredible depth here -- a painting in colors and tone that's as captivating as it is spare -- and which really stands apart from a lot of Italian styles of the time! Con Lui Cavalca is a very different score altogether -- much more driving, upbeat, and action-oriented -- with full strings on the theme, over groovy rhythms that snap along in a western mode, followed by a variety of mellower styles that have a lot more jazz phrasing than you'd expect for a western! The CD features 26 titles in all -- nearly 80 minutes of music!
