Groovy groovy groovy!
A rare early session by Serge Gainsbourg, recorded with French jazz great Alain Gouraguer – and done with a really wonderful Latin-esque sound!
The album's one of Serge's greatest from the early years – a sublime blend of Left Bank jazz and American Latin rhythms – all topped off by Gainsbourg's darkly compelling vocals.
Gouraguer's especially great on the set – creating these moody and rhythmic passages that are really Serge's first attempt to hit a groove! Titles include "New York USA", "Coco & Co", "Les Sambassadeurs", "Machins Choses", "Les Yeux Doux", "Pauvre Lola", "Quand Mon", "Tatou Jeremie", and more!
SERGE GAINSBOURG-Percussion Reissue - 1964
Serge Gainsbourg was a French poet, singer-songwriter, actor and director. He was born Lucien Ginsburg in Paris, France, the son of Russian Jewish parents who fled to France after the 1917 Bolshevik uprising. Gainsbourg's varied musical style and individuality made him difficult to categorize. His legacy has been firmly established, and he is often regarded as one of the world's most influential musicians. He had two children in the 1960's with his first wife: a daughter named Natacha and a son, Paul. His second daughter, actress Charlotte, was born to English singer and actress Jane Birkin; and his youngest son, Lucien (best known as Lulu), with his last partner, Bambou (Caroline von Paulus, who is related to Friedrich Paulus).
