Released:
2021
Genre:

Classic Rock

This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Album was originally released in 1974 on Transatlantic Records.

The album opens with a drum solo called Tap (after all, this was 1974, and it was illegal for all prog and rock albums to be released without a drum solo). They then launch into great Move It, which was completely Strayed up and has plenty of that guitar and power they well were known for. It is a great rock song, led by a driving beat, straight forward hard rocking riffs, tasteful solo and vocal harmonies.

The rest of the album, whilst being classic Stray, has always been regarded by the band as a bit of a mish mash. Tracks like Bromham’s rocking Hey Domino, their cover of Jimmie Helm’s Customs Man or Gadd’s slightly psychedelic and mellow Mystic Lady and Our Plea especially, moving the band into more melodic areas. Whilst one critic wrote, Move itmarks a dramatic improvement over its predecessor. It has vastly superior song writing, on a mix of pop/psych and hard, classic rock with vocal harmonies and great guitar playing. Great recording quality, great production qualities. Steve Gadd would leave the band following Move it. Unhappy with Transatlantic`s promotion Stray decided to leave the label and were signed by Dawn, PYE`s imprint for progressive rock.

Album comes with 4 sided cover sized insert with bandstory, photos etcpp, remastered and brilliant sounding.

For all lovers of melodic, psychedelic hard rock!
