TRAFFIC SOUND-TIBET'S SUZETTES-PROG PSYCH PERU 1971 CD

Traffic Sound

 Tibet's Suzettes (3rd Album)

NEW CD IN JEWELCASE

Third album from 1970 by the legendary Peruvian psychedelic rock band. Plenty of great music here with a Latino influence, with flute driven passages that at times resemble a South American Jethro Tull!.

"This one has a more progressive feel, with the flute, etc., sounding similar to Jethro Tull and Raw Material. It maintains this group's high quality psychedelic style of recording."
"The third album of Traffic Sound is a mix of proto-progressive and psychedelic rock. South American influences are almost absent on this album. Only the intermezzo on "What You Need and What You Want" has some vague Latin percussion accompanied by a short flute solo. A few tracks are UK-oriented proto-progressive in the vein of Blodwyn Pig, Other tracks remind me of Love and Spirit. There is a Doors-like organ line throughout "Those Days Have Gone" and on "Chicama Way," they sound like a cross between Buffalo Springfield and Blodwyn Pig. "You Got to Pay" is typical early 70's hard rock. A pleasant and varied album. "
(review from gnosis2000 )
"Traffic Sound's self-titled classic album, also called Tibet's Suzettes ("Gently guaranteed to get you high" (?)) is a very cool affair. Good songs sung in English, and the CD inlay-pictures set an incredible atmosphere (probably doesn't make sense unless you see them for yourself - VERY hip rural late 60's). Basically early hardrock, late psychrock, and psychedelic folk rolled into one, making it almost proto-prog but not quite. If you're into the early "almost proto-prog" genre (you know the kind), this is highly recommended and I love it. Look out for lines like "Feelin fine & fortified while ballin' Betty Boop / But what you want & what you need is not in her balloons!", right next to pseudo-religious lyrics. A few flute-fills, and occasional brass arrangements"
