Bang-Death Of A Country-'71 UK Underground Hard Rock-NEW LP PURPLE

Bang (12) ‎– Death Of A Country
Label:
Rise Above Relics ‎– RARLP015
Format:
Vinyl, LP, Album, PURPLE
Country:
UK
Released:
2011
Genre:
Rock
Style:
Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Classic Rock

This album was recorded in 1971 and was intended to be released as the band’s first record, but was shelved by Capitol Records because they did not feel that putting out a “heavy concept album” as the band’s debut would be commercially viable. Later that year, their self-titled sophomore record was released and became their official debut instead.

This previously unreleased 1971 album gets its first ever release on vinyl, via Rise Above Relics. Cult Band Bang recorded Death of a Country for Capitol Records, which was immediately rejected, considered to be sounding too underground and not commercial enough.

Regarded by many as being America’s answer to early Black Sabbath, Death of a Country, displays a darker psychedelic mood than the more straightforward proto-metal / hard rock that was to follow. Dark, trippy lyrics and studio effects owe more to early Pink Floyd than Black Sabbath on this particular release.

All editions come in gatefold sleeve with lyric insert.
