The tenor and soprano Sax player and composer at the same time, Francesco Santucci, was born in Perugia on August 7, 1963. He studied under the supervision of Alfio Galigani and graduated at the Conservatoire "F. Morlacchi" in 1979. Francesco Santucci's musical activity started with the Perugia Jazz quartet and the Perugia Big Band. Later on, he improved his skill by studying with P.H. Jeffrey of the Duke University. In the course of time, Francesco Santucci has been collaborating with numerous Italian and foreign ensembles, such as P. Jeffrey Big Band, C. Connors, R. Gatto, D. Rea, W. Mabon, and B. Biriaco, and playing with maestros such as Gianni Ferrio, Armando Trovajoli, Georges Pretre. During the past years Francesco Santucci attended a number of jazz festivals. To name just a few: the Pompei Festival, Umbria Jazz, Jazz ÿ Vienne (where he and his quintet represented Italy), Midem 1993 in Cannes, Festival dei due Mondi. Since 1986 Francesco Santucci has been a permanent member of the RAI-TV Orchestra in Rome.
